How We Choose Products

Our guides help you decide what kind of wig, extensions or styling tool suits you. Sometimes we also point to specific products that match that advice. This page explains how we pick them.

Advice first, products second

We write the advice in each guide before we look at any products. Product picks appear only after the advice, in a section labeled Ad, and only where they help you act on what the guide recommends. If nothing fits, we don’t add picks.

What every pick has to meet

• It fits the decision. Each pick matches a specific need from the guide, such as a human hair wig for daily wear or a heat-friendly synthetic for low-effort styling.
• The specifications are clear. The retailer has to state the details that matter, such as hair type, cap construction, density, length or heat limit, so you know what you’re buying.
• You can buy it where you live. We check that the product is available to readers in the US and the UK.
• The retailer is accountable. It must have a published returns policy and clear contact details.
• No health claims. We don’t feature products that claim to treat hair loss or scalp conditions.

How we compare options

Where we can, we include more than one budget and explain the trade-off for each pick: what it does well and what to watch out for. We also note the price when we checked, because prices change.

Testing

We don’t test every product in person. When we haven’t, our pick is based on the product’s specifications, the retailer’s policies and verified customer reviews, and we say so next to the pick.

What we never do

• Accept payment for a product to be featured or ranked higher
• Let commission rates decide which products we pick
• Recommend a product we wouldn’t suggest without the commission

Keeping picks up to date

We recheck picks, prices and links whenever we update a guide. If a product changes or is no longer a good fit, we replace or remove it.
