How To Care For Your Human Hair To Make It Last

How To Care For Your Human Hair To Make It Last

The reason some women are able to reuse their human hair extensions for many years is the maintenance practice. Find out the best ways on how you can care for your Human Hair Wigs and Extensions to make them last.

Not everyone has natural hair that is very beautiful, hence the desire for the Human Hair extensions and Wigs like Brazilian, Indian, Peruvian and Cambodian hairs, regardless of their prices. The reason some women are able to reuse their human hair extensions for as long as two years or more is the maintenance practice. Human Hair extensions and Wigs require care just like the natural hair growing on your head. The better you take care of your human hair, the longer they will last. Most people think because they are called human hair, these products don't require care and attention. In fact, just like your natural gives you problem when you don't maintain it, so also human hair gives isues when not properly maintained. Just take for instance, it is a common sense thing that if you leave the hair growing naturally on your head for some days, bathing on it, sleeping on it or fidgetting with it without  taking time to oil or even brush it, it will tangle. If you do any harsh thing to your natural hair, it will definitely give you issues. That is just the same way your Human Hair product behaves no matter the claims and assurances the Seller must have given you.

In order to ensure long-lasting extensions and wigs, the following tips will prove helpful:

  • Detangling hair

To get rid of tangles, gently comb out human hair extensions using a wide tooth brush or a detangling brush. While combing, do not just insert the brush and start brushing from the root (the top where the hair was fixed) or the middle of the hair; instead start combing or brushing from the ends or tips and slowly work your way to the top (the root). Support the extension or Wig with your hand while brushing to avoid pulling some strands of the Hair which is known as shedding.

  • Washing

It is advisable to wash your hair at least once in a week to remove dirts and oil buildup, but not more than three times in a week. Washing hair too often will make it appear too dry and may get it damaged faster, which is what nobody likes. It is best to wash gently with cold water and a very gentle shampoo, free of sulphite and alcohol. Always apply moisturising Leave-in conditioner after washing. Rinse the hair and dry.

  • Drying hair

Pat the hair dry and avoid rubbing with a towel as this will lead to breakage and matting. It is best to allow human hair extensions dry in air, as excessive use of hair dryer will lead to damage of the hair. However, if necessary the dryer should be put on a cool setting, and the extension should be combed out gently with a wide tooth brush while drying.

  • Styling human hair extensions

It is best to discuss your human hair style preferences with your stylist. Use styling products that are alcohol free such as mousse, gel, and hairspray in moderation. Avoid excessive use of oily or greasy products, as this can attract dirts and oil buildup thereby making the Hair to tangle.

  • Applying heat

Heat is the biggest enemy of human hair weaves. Excessive use of heat causes the ends of the hair to weaken and become brittle, leading to breakage. If heat must be used, heat protectant must be applied to the hair before-hand. The use of flat irons should be avoided.

  • Sleeping with human hair

Avoid sleeping with your human hair wet or roughly as this will make it get tangled while sleeping. Plait the hair, pin it up, roller-set it or roll with bendy rollers before sleeping. Sleep with a satin cap or on a satin covered pillow to avoid pillow friction.

Other things to take note of:

  •          Avoid touching the hair every time. Touching human hair extensions leads to the transfer of oils and dirts from the hand to the hair, leading to them to become look dull and unattractive.
  •         Avoid going inside the swimming pool with your Hair. In you must do, rinse your hair in tap water before and after going into the swimming pool. The heavily chlorinated water has damaging effects on human hair. It is better to even avoid entering the pool at all with your human hair weaves.
  •          Do not use towels to rigorously dry out your human hair extensions, to avoid breakage.
  •          Oil your scalp whenever your scalp feels itchy. Avoid scratching because it can result in frizzy roots and noticeable cracks.
  •          When storing your human hair, store them in well ventilated packs, and in such a way that they do not get matted or tangled.
